Common Bangla Typing Mistakes and How to Avoid Them

Mistake #1: Confusing র and ড়, য and য়

Problem:

Many beginners mix up র (ro) with ড় (ro modified) and য (J/y) with য় (য়ো/antostho J).

Solution:

Learn the visual differences and practice each separately. In Avro: র=r, ড়=rr, য=j/y, য়=Y (Shift+y)

Example: করা (kora) vs কড়া (korra)

Mistake #2: Incorrect Kar Placement in Bijoy

Problem:

In Bijoy, typing kar (vowel signs) in wrong order. Remember: most kar come BEFORE the consonant in Bijoy.

Solution:

Practice kar order: া ি ী come before consonant, but ু ূ come after. Create muscle memory through repeated practice.

Example: কি = type 'd' then 'k' (NOT 'k' then 'd')

Mistake #3: Missing Hasant (্) in Juktoborno

Problem:

Forgetting to use hasant when typing conjunct characters in Bijoy, resulting in separated letters.

Solution:

Always use 'g' key (hasant ্) to join consonants in Bijoy. In Avro, type consonants directly together.

Example: ক্ক = k+g+k (Bijoy) or kk (Avro)

Mistake #4: Wrong Juktoborno Selection in Avro

Problem:

Avro sometimes suggests multiple juktoborno options, and beginners pick the wrong one.

Solution:

Learn to recognize correct conjunct forms. Pay attention to the suggestion dropdown and choose carefully.

Example: For ক্ষ, type 'kkh' or 'kSh', don't just type 'ksh'

Mistake #5: Inconsistent Spacing

Problem:

Adding extra spaces or missing spaces between words, especially with punctuation.

Solution:

Follow Bengali typing convention: single space after words, no space before punctuation (।, ,)

Example: Correct: 'আমি ভালো আছি।' NOT 'আমি ভালো আছি ।'

Mistake #6: Using English Punctuation Instead of Bangla

Problem:

Using period (.) instead of দাঁড়ি (।), English comma instead of Bangla comma.

Solution:

Learn Bangla punctuation marks. In Avro, type '.' for দাঁড়ি (।). In Bijoy, use appropriate keys.

Example: Use: আমি যাচ্ছি। (with দাঁড়ি ।)

Mistake #7: Not Proofreading

Problem:

Rushing through typing without checking for errors, especially in professional documents.

Solution:

Always proofread. Read aloud to catch errors. Use spell checkers when available.

Example: даблCheck especially juktoborno and kar placement

Quick Prevention Checklist

  • Practice slowly at first to build correct habits
